As the seasons change and and late August summer warmth turns into September chill, dressing for the weather can become a bit tricky! While it's not exactly pum-pum short shorts weather anymore, you don't want to be that overly dressed for winter person walking down the block in a waist-length down parka ... Seriously, I've already see it .. Don't be that person LOL! Especially when all it takes are a few fashion hacks to get your "pre-fall," transition wardrobe together. Take for example this week's look. It has l the flavors of fall, while still airy and light enough to accommodate a sun that's not quite ready to give up its summer warmth. Playing around with photography a bit, let's dissect what makes this pre-fall outfit work.
Starting with what's on my feet, booties have quickly become one of my fashion go-tos this transitional season. The fun fringed heel look gives the hint of fall, while the peep-toe style lets you show off that still fresh summer pedicure and allows your feet to breathe.
Working our way upward, denim is always a timeless classic and can be dressed up of down regardless of the season. Here, I chose to wear a simple pair of vintage stoned washed, high-waisted jeans from Wrangler. The the darker wash denim alludes to fall, however the cuffing at each leg reminds you a bit of a high water / capri look ... Definitely a summertime fave.
Up top, I chose a basic tank top tucked into the denim with a pop of color over top. To add a bit of spice to the look, I chose to use one of my favorite body wrappahs. Now to create this colorful printed shirt / top (and countless other dresses, skirts, head-wraps, etc) you can either purchase a Q.A.C body wrap from the webstore .. Or you can use a favorite long scarf from your own closet. With your material of choice on hand, your printed top can be created in the following three steps:
1. Take your body wrap or scarf and throw it over your shoulders. Let all of the material fall forward over your chest. If you are working with a Q.A.C body wrap material, make sure the tab side of the wrap is at the bottom.
2. Once the material is draped forward, adjust fabric over your bosom as you like. You can fluff and spread the material as full or as narrow as you would like.
3. Secure your top with a fun belt, tucking body wrap tabs (if you have them) under the belt. I chose a vintage 1980's belt from my moms closet. It's older than I am!
And there you have it, a unique ensemble created with a few basic staples and an amazing fall-ready print! If you recreate this look, I'd love to see it! Feel free to tag me on Twitter or Instagram! As always ... the fashion journey continues!
